Diversity In Your Online Marketing Portfolio Is A Must
I never thought I would ever promote any other marketing techniques except for SEM, but my recent Google slap made me realize that a marketer definitely needs diversity. I am a big fan of marketing using SEO and PPC because when done right, the traffic converts well. The only problem to utilizing those two techniques only is when Google decides to change their algorithms…WATCH OUT!
Recently a site that was earning me $1500 dollars a week got slammed from the front page for a very competitive keyword all the way to page 13. That is the equivalent of $6000 dollars a month totally wiped out. I have been working vehemently trying to get my placement back, but in the meantime, very little money is being made with that particular site.
The funny part is that it was not really due to any algorithms changes, I simply receive a backlink from a site that was not in good graces with the search engine giant. I immediately removed my site from the bad site in question, but it was entirely too late. If I had some alternative traffic sources already put in place, then my pain would not be as excruciating.
I recently researched and found two alternative marketing plans that has work tremendously for me; Thank God! Will I continue to use Google; Of course. Not using the merciless giant is like leaving money on the table and you know how I feel about that.
The two marketing strategies that saved my internet career are cell phone marketing and contextual marketing. It turns out that cell phones can reach a bigger market than the internet. If you think about it, it all makes sense, a household may share one computer, but chances are everyone will have their own cell phone. These phones also access the internet and often act as a mini laptop. Setting up little banner ads on the cell phone is a goldmine for marketing your affiliate products. For more detailed info you can visit Cell Phone Treasures.
Contextual marketing “bka” PPV (pay per view) or CPV (cost per view) is another. Instead of paying $2 a click for adwords, PPV shows your whole site for .02 cents. That’s right! the cost is not per click but per view. It works like this, when someone visits a url or keyword that you have a bid on, your whole site (800 X 600) will pop up on their computer screen. It’s that simple. For more information on this type of traffic you can visit Rapid Mass Traffic.
This is my first post to this blog in a long time. I have been busy with promoting several different websites, my offline marketing consulting company and getting spanked by Google. I hope this post helps everyone out and helps to remind everyone that there are plenty of marketing techniques besides using the giants, so do yourself a huge favor and diversify your online marketing portfolio.
