How Does Viral Marketing Work?

Viral marketing is a easy way to get nonstop traffic to your website without paying a dime. There are many different forms of viral marketing. Examples of viral marketing strategies are: ebooks, article  marketing, and cloaking softwares.  There are some marketers who are confused as to how does viral marketing work. The concept of viral marketing is to create a marketing campaign that can grow rapidly without any extra advertising on  your part.

A great example of a very powerful viral marketing strategy is the use of viral ebooks. Creating a viral ebook is as quite simple. You can write an ebook on whatever product that you are trying to promote. In the ebook you should provide valuable content and place links inside the ebook linking to your website or affiliate products. The next step is to give your ebook away for free, if you provided great information, there is high probability that your work will be circulated to other marketers all over the net.

Another form of viral marketing is cloaking tools. The original purpose of a cloaking tool is to hide your affiliate id’s from internet thieves, but most cloaking tools also have a viral bar either on the top of the page or the bottom displaying ads. Viral cloaking tools will show your ads on other members viral bar for every time someone clicks on one of your links. This is especially great if you have a cloaked url that is generating a lot of trafffic, you can literally double your advertising with no additional effort.

Article marketing is a form of viral marketing that many marketers take for granted. The keys to making your articles go viral is the same as with a viral ebook; creating good content. A well written article can get downloaded and republished on several other websites or article directories. This process may be slow in the beginning, but can really create some great traffic and quality backlinks for years to come.

Social networking sites like Digg and Stumble Upon are known for exploding website hit meters with an explosive viral marketing business model. Digg and Stumble Upon’s viral marketing business model is unique, you can submit websites or article to these networks and your peers can give you a thumbs up vote. The more votes you receive, the higher your site will rise, thus creating a tsunami of traffic. Other great social networks that create viral traffic are Twitter, Delicious, and Technorati.

The great part about creating a viral marketing campaign is the anticipation that at anytime it can literally go viral. If you are lucky enough to create a successful viral campaign, you may find the need to increase your bandwidth to avoid crashing your servers; not necessarily a bad thing.
