Recently a site that was earning me $1500 dollars a week got slammed from the front page for a very competitive keyword all the way to page 13. That is the equivalent of $6000 dollars a month totally wiped out. I have been working vehemently trying to get my placement back, but in the meantime, very little money is being made with that particular site.

The funny part is that it was not really due to any algorithms changes, I simply receive a backlink from a site that was not in good graces with the search engine giant. This is my first post to this blog in a long time. I have been busy with promoting several different websites, my offline marketing consulting company and getting spanked by Google. Article marketing is not just a writing a 300 word spam article with a link at the end, so I believe that the more competitive the market gets, the more quality writers will rise to the top. The program gave me the opportunity to challenge my writing skills by choosing topics that I normally do not write about. Even though I prefer SEM and SEO methods best, I do not believe in leaving cash on the the table. You can easily make easy money fast with PPC adverstising and email marketing. The other day I a made a blog post reviewing a Pay Per Click training course called Maverick Money Makers I receive several comments on the post with most of them being spam, but nonetheless, I was surprise at how many negative responses I received. Many of the comments were marketers unhappy about how comprehensive and difficult it is to learn how to manage a PPC campaign.

It is still amazing to me how many people start their internet business expecting to make hundreds of thousands overnight. It is a fact that if you want to make six figures by becoming a doctor, it will take you at least 7 years of schooling. Both Squidoo and Hub Pages offer a place for likeminded individuals to bring their visions, outlooks, products or artistic expressions to the World Wide Web. The question of which one packs the hardest punch in my opinion, can only be left up to each individual. I personally use both. Since both communities are free to join and free to interact, I find it that it makes sense not to discrimate. The decision between one over the other would be the equivalent of leaving money on the table.

The lesson I learned seem very logical now, but for some reason or another, I am surprised that I did not figure it out myself. Marketing on the net takes great determination and plenty of patience and that is the reason why 97% of internet marketers tend to quit within their first year. It is a fact that only 3% of the internet consist of internet marketers, so why are so many internet marketers promoting to internet marketers?

Although it makes sense to promote the same products that you are using to increase your web presence, it does not make sense to ignore 97% of the market. Promoting items like traffic generation productst to other marketers promoting traffic generation products is similar to preaching to the choir. The way to test your skills as a true internet marketer is to be able to market products that you are not familiar with. Doing your research on an online product and providing a review will yield much more success because you will be reaching consumers and not marketers.

The best way to test this analogy is to try it out for yourself. I have made some good money marketing affiliate products from Clickbank, but lately I have expanded my horizons to affiliate marketplaces like Share A Sale. I have found that using this simple affiliate marketing tip with offline products  has increased my sales conversions by 300%.

I feel a little stupid for not figuring this out much sooner, but I am glad that I now have this simple affiliate marketing tip on my list of techniques. The increase to my sales conversions has me confident about reaching my goals….wish me luck!
